I bought this gutter guard product as my weekend DIY project. I was a little sceptical about my ability to complete this project by myself. But in my wildest surprize- I completed covering my entire home gutter with this leafTek gutter guard in one weekend! I ordered 300 linear feet, even though I needed about 270 linear feet. I am keeping the extra pieces in my attic for future use. It was very easy to install and looks professionally installed.**My suggestion to the vendor would be to make 50 and 25 feet box available. So-the buyer can customize their order accordingly.
I have mature oak trees around my house and without guards, they fill with leaves in a couple days. We are on the Mississippi gulf coast and frequently get very heavy rain. I was looking for a durable guard that can handle a lot of water. These fit the bill. I ordered 100' with rough gutter measurements of 96'. Sure enough, I came out one piece short. I sent an email to LeafTek on Sunday afternoon, and they responded the same day and shipped a piece at no charge the next day. My gutters are mounted pretty high, so I wasn't able to put as much slope on them as I would have liked. The instruction say to put 4 screws on the front and two against the house. Three and two seemed to be enough, but I still ran out of the included screws, so I'd get some before you start. They are invisible from the ground. When installing, I put a pop rivet on the overlapping tab to minimize the chance of leaves getting stuck in the seams. They are easy to cut with snips. I ran a hose to see how much water they could handle. No issues there. See attached video. Overall great product and excellent customer service.
My neighbor complained about rain water coming from my property and asked me to direct my gutter water to a spot where it will flow into the street. I dug a trench about 18" and put 4" PVC pipe. My neighbor's trees dump a lot of leaves on my roof, and I didn't want a clog in a pipe 18" under ground so I wanted to install a gutter guard. I went to Lowe's to check out what they had. I read a lot of reviews and watched a lot of YouTube videos of professionals reviewing the available products. I settled on this. It's aluminum which, according to Frank Costanza, has a high strength to weight ratio. It screws in rather than just snapping in waiting to get blown away by the next heavy wind. And it doesn't tuck under the shingles thereby voiding the warranty from the new roof we just got. This is a preliminary review. The real test is going to be in October. I'll update this then. But there are a lot of things that can be said about this now.First is waterflow. I took one of these and held it under the faucet, and the water went straight through with a heavy flow. It will easily handle a heavy rainfall with no problem.Second, it's easy to install. It comes with screws AND a drill bit to fit the screws. You just install the gutter guards and then with a cordless drill. It's so easy it will make you feel like a master handyman. The only problem I had wit installation was the wasp nest that was already in the gutter. Yikes.Third is customer service. It's a small, family-owned, U.S. company. The product is made in the U.S. I think they're in New Jersey (got give 'em strength). I never had to call the customer service because they're so easy to install. They also have a feature whereby you can buy a sample piece for less than ten bucks to make sure they fit your gutter. These are being marketed to Harry Homeowner weekend warriors DIYers through Amazon. If you get the sample, they'll give you a coupon code for purchasing the product which is more than the cost of the sample piece so it's not ten buck down the drain.Follow Up: Well, the fall came and went. My neighbors' trees dumped a hundred pounds of leaves on my roof. But I didn't have a problem. They say that you still have to clean the leaves off the gutter guards, but I didn't have to. The leaves just fall right off. Not a single clog. Not a single problem. This is amazing. I mean, this is fantastic. Great product.By the way I only got it for the back of the house. I'm going to buy another 100 feet for the front now.
I don't write reviews very often but I am very pleased with the product. It's high quality and the installer had no issue putting them in. We also had exceptional customer service from the manufacturer. They quickly responded to questions on a Sunday evening, saved me a substantial amount of money by letting me know that the 200' pack, which was out of stock at Amazon, would be in stock in a day or two. And it was. They kept me informed the entire time. They could have easily just let me order 2 x 100' cartons instead and I probably wouldn't have been any wiser. As it turned out, we still came up a couple of guards short and they quickly sent me more guards free of charge with more screws too. Someone else in a previous review mentioned he received similar service - he wasn't kidding. They really took care of us. I would not hesitate to recommend this product and the manufacturer.I initially looked at mesh guards (even got some samples) but ultimately chose this guard instead as I think it will be easier to maintain. Small items won't get stuck in the mesh and eventually clog it. And without needles and leaves blocking the gutter channel and seeds should just wash through the gutter and down the downspout.I also liked this particular guard because it didn't have to go under the shingles but could still be sloped back to front by attaching to the fascia. Any leaves or needles that don't blow off on their own can be easily swept off from the ground or blown off with a portable air compressor. I know that eventually I'll have to take the guards off and clean out the gutters but I'm hoping that interval will be measured in years and not months.
When I looked for a Leaf Tek install video I found pages of other product videos. online of cheaper brands. I suggest a link just to Leaf Tek video. The product was not difficult to install once a work routine was established. Installation of about 31 feet in under an hour. Do not leave in the sun while working as it heats up almost immediately. What I like about the aluminum is its quality and rigidity. This sheet can be cut using metal shears effectively in under 2 mins. Delivery of two packages took 2 days without any damage. Screws and drill bit was enclosed ready for use.
These guards seem to be well designed and well made. They fit the gutter perfectly and are very easy to install. Other buyers complained of not having enough screws, I used all the screws I needed and had screws left over. I just installed these two days ago so I don't know how well they do the job they're designed to do... yet. Based on my experience with a similar design, I expect them to perform about as well as any leaf guard on the market. I will update this in a few weeks.
Very impressed with this product. Very easy to install. I installed this on 5 in. gutters with nail / screw and ferrule for attaching the gutter to the house. This product fit easily on top of the ferrule. Best to install the screws on the front of the gutter guard and then install the screws as it attaches to the drip edge. Just had very heavy rain today and the gutter guard handled it great. Highly recommend this product.
We live on a corner lot with many trees and this is our first year in a new home. A month ago my wife informed me that there were waterfalls coming from our gutters during a heavy rain. I inspected the gutters and they were packed to the gills with wet leaves, pine straw, funky caterpillar looking seeds, you name it. I removed two large garbage bags full of heavy wet crap from my gutters.I knew I had to do something so I started researching solutions. I seriously considered this product based upon the numerous excellent reviews. I initially ordered the sample to see how it fit my gutters. It popped right in and shortly thereafter I ordered 200'. So far I have completed one small section of the house around the screened in porch. The corners were a bit tricky at first but I think I've got that down now.I do not like climbing ladders but I purchased a LG 17' articulating ladder just for this job (of course it will come in handy for many other jobs in the future). With this ladder I was able to reach my gutters with the ladder in the a-frame position which I believe is much more steady and thus safer than leaning the ladder against the gutters.I think this was an overall good investment because just having someone clean your gutters costs a couple of hundred dollars and having someone install gutter guards costs thousands! The product arrived quickly and was well packaged. I was initially going to order white, because my gutters are white, but after reading the comments I decided on black. You cannot see the covers from the ground so I am very happy I chose black. We had a good rain the other day and the Leaftek gutter guards performed well. However, the real test will be in the spring (pollen) and the fall (tons of leaves). I plan to install the remaining product soon and will revise this post in the spring or fall. I will also add photosRecommendation for Leaftek. I have tons of corners on my gutter system. Have you thought about manufacturing and selling "corners?" This would make installation much easie and result in less waste and frustration. You could sell sets of corners separately from the straights.
After doing a lot of research I decided to install 5'' LeafTek Gutter Guards on my home. One problem we came across was that my gutters were actually less than 5". I called the LeafTek factory to see if they offered a 4'' guard, I found out 4'' gutters are not a normal size. I spoke with one of the owners and found him to be very professional and willing to help me come up with a solution. I decided to cut the guards on a table saw removing the 90 degree portion that screws into the back of the gutter, by doing this I was able to have the roof shingles overlap the guard and screw the front of the guard as you would normally to the gutter. This worked out great, after cutting the guards there was more than enough material to push up under the roof shingles for a very secure solution. Very happy with the product, easy to install and a great looking gutter guard.
So much debris fell on my roof that the gutter could overflow a week after cleaning, at any time of the year, it seemed. Any screening was sure to help.My 7 pieces came with 41 screws, a magnetic driver adapter, and no tips on installation. I had trouble making the guards fit until I found that the gutter hangers, hidden by the shingles, were in the way. I used pliers to bend the back edge of the guard slightly to make room for the hanger. The bends had to be gentle so they wouldn't make the guard sag.I stripped the first hole because my drill doesn't have a clutch. I tried starting them with the drill and driving them by hand, but the screws would wander as I tried to start them. I found it more efficient to drill pilot holes and drive by hand. Where a screw would go into the wood behind the gutter, I preferred drywall screws. Drywall screws will rust and don't have much shear strength, but they seemed OK in this application.A lot of leaves have fallen and I've had no clogs. If someday I need to remove shingle grit, I should be able to unscrew the guard sections easily.
I read the reviews before I decided to buy the LeaveTek gutter guards on my new gutters I installed and I do not understand why there is negative reviews this is very easy to install I used my 3/8 cordless drill and when you put the screw in the magnetic bit that are all provided with the guards you can not put a lot of down pressure on the screw or it will come out of the bit the screws went in easy the guards fit like a glove in my 5 inch gutters and I installed them as directed from left to right I love how they interlock each other I looked at all others in the big box stores and I would have had to order them and they were all cheaper made and higher priced all I have to say is thank you Leaf Tech for well made great paint on the covers and providing the screws and magnetic bit with the guards
I used it to keep leaves out of my gutters. But in your directions you should explain the tab and straight edges on the end. Too overlap or under lap the tab. Plus the holes should be bigger, quarter inch for better rain drainage.
I installed these myself and they are excellent. You need to be a mechanically inclined to install it, but they work much better than foam or other products (which cost more for some reason). They really keep the leaves and even pine needles out while letting water and snow through. I was skeptical at first but it works as described. During install you tend to drop screws which are hard to find in the grass so more screws would be appreciated. I recommend a magentic screw bit and a belt holster to hold the screw driver while navigating the ladder. These will last forever so you can basically leave them for the life of the home (or whenever you replace your gutters). Highly recommend it.
This product is first class, easy to install for DIY. The pieces have an overlap feature that solves the issue at joints.I ordered 100 ft and came up a few pieces short to complete my job. I asked if they could sell me a few pieces rather than only a box of 100ft. They responded on the weekend and shipped me the few pieces I needed at no cost to me.I could not ask for better!
I bought this brand because I liked the curved ridges which may help the leaves blow off better. Some other brands use corner or angled ridges which I thought could trap the leaves on the sharper edges than this brand that uses curved ridges.I had my gutter installer put these on and he said they were exactly like the ones he buys and these were cheaper than what he buys directly from the local aluminum manufacturer. He said they are easy to install and came with enough screws to do the job. The instructions seemed good from what I saw with lots of pictures.
Good quality product. Much better than versions I've tried from the big box stores. Easy to install if gutters are properly installed. Product snaps into place and almost does not need screws, but using screws adds strength to the gutters. I installed 141 feet in two days, and that included cleaning out the gutters. Wanted to attach before and after photos but could not. The "Before" pic shows gutter full of leaves, and "After" pic shows LeafTek guards after a bit of wind cleaned off the thin layer of leaves. Very happy with the results!Got an estimate from major competitor that does a lot of TV ads. They wanted $3900.00 !!! I did the job for less than $300.00.One suggestion: provide more screws. I bought 200' of product but only installed 141' and I was short three screws. Very good Customer Service. Called them and they sent more screws. No problems. Highly recommend LeafTek guards.
Install went well, but I did use about 200 more screws due to some of the eves being bent by ladders over time. However because your guards are so well made actually improved the strength of the gutters. Just had rain storm with 50 mph wind gust. Everything worked perfect and the leaves that have fallen in the last couplebof days would have veen enough to clog the downspouts. No more, the ran out perfect and the leaves that had fallen were blown off. I did purchase two orders 132 ft, but there should be a way to order more screws through Leaf Tech . However Amazon had the screws from a different manufacture . Thank you for making a quality product and making my life a lot easier from cleaning gutters on a two story house.
These are light weight and well made gutter covers. I installed them yesterday and it hasn't rained yet. Curious to see if they will allow torrential rain flow into gutters.I probably spent 75% of my time installing these messing around with the little screws. They aren't the highest quality and round easily. The head of the screws need to be just a bit deeper and the enclosed socket the same. I could spend 5 minutes just installing one screw before it would bite and then drill. It would come out of the bit frequently. These are not made by LeafTek so I understand it is not a reflection of the product itself.I would recommend these covers so far. But it hasn't rained yet. I'll try to add more later on.
I read reviews on many brands of gutter guards before deciding to purchase LeafTek Gutter Guard Leaf Protection. I made the right choice! The 4' long metal pieces were easy to maneuver, easy to install and are well made. The metal cut easily with metal shears. The tabs on the pieces made alignment a breeze. Moving the ladder was the slowest part of the installation. My son climbed the ladder and handled installation. I stayed on the ground and handed him the LeafTek guards and took care of the cutting. Installation will go quicker with two people. We had just enough screws; it would be nice if the manufacturer tossed in an extra 20 screws as we used several screws on smaller pieces we cut to complete rows and around corners. The small holes in the metal should keep out the leaves, acorns and helicopters (maple tree seed pods!) I will NOT miss my old plastic, snap-in leaf guards that blew off in a mild wind and were taken off by the squirrels. I will be ordering more LeafTek Gutter Guards to install on my mom's house.
This is a quality product. It is easy enough to install. In my case the gutters sit very close to the shingles making it a little difficult to install the back screws. It is not the fault of the product, just the way my gutters sit. On windy days leaves will in fact blow off of the guards. If it has been raining leaves will collect on the guards until they dry and blow off. I still use my leaf blower extension to occasionally blow leaves from the guards. This being said the guards have saved me countless hours of gutter cleaning. I have mature oaks and maple trees around my house and my gutters would become clogged constantly before installing these guards.
Purchased 300ft of LeafTek 5" gutter guards. Product delivered promptly, good quality with screws and rubber washers included. Installed nicely, not visible from ground. Hopefully they will work as advertised. Great this far.
Just installed gutter guards. Seems like a very good product. Difficult to install because of heights, dealing with ladders, general life ain't easy stuff. Would suggest one thing that LeafTEK could do to help make the job easier. The supplied screws fit sloppily in magnetic driver. You could not put ANY pressure on screw while starting to screw into gutter without in turning sideways or usually just falling off bit and down to the ground. I appreciate your product and asking for honest feedback to a family business.P.S. I never give feedback to big deaf companies.
Not very easy to install. Part of the time there was nothing to screw to because of the slope needed for the gutter install - had to use 2 1/2 inch screws which was extremely hard to get the dept needed and keep aligned. Extremely difficult to keep the fascia side of the cover aligned. I was also dealing with a short overhang from shingles and I suggest never try to do that. I was disappointed with the install after having read all the reviews that made like it would be a fairly easy install.
I have tried many types and brands of gutter covers, but these are absolutely the best I have ever used. They were super easy to install and even keep out the dreaded pine needles which were the bane of my gutter existence. It took longer to clean the gutters before install than it did to actually install the LeafTek covers. Water goes right thru and the debris lays on top and often just blows off in the wind. AND, THEY ARE MADE IN THE USA!!!! Well made, easy install, works well and made in USA equals a winner to me!
I waited until the Fall Leaf Season was over before I reviewed. Note - I live in the woods with mature oaks, poplar, and all sorts of hardwoods surrounding my house. Some are easily 75-80 feet tall. I wanted to see how these would perform during the fall. I researched all different types of gutter guards. Some cheaper. Some more expensive. I even talked to the professionals who do installs. My gutters are 23 years old. 5 inch. Lots of wear. And the results: outstanding product. Performed exactly as described. I chose the black color with the thinking the black color would absorb the radiation from the sun and dry any leaves out that may be laying on top. That is exactly what happens. Then a strong breeze comes along and they blow right off. Heavy rains flow right in and thru the holes with no problem. Ease of installation only gets 4 stars because the back side of my house is 30+ feet up on a hill. Quite a balancing act on a ladder that high up. Not for the faint of heart....and I don't really recommend doing this yourself if you have a high pitch/high roof line and balance issues. It was brutal. Plenty of screws. I didn’t have to buy any extra. In summary - these gutter guards are the best. I highly recommend them and am so glad I put these on before the leaves came down. I won’t be getting up on my ladder again anytime in the near or distant future.
